Whitby makes an ideal
holiday destination, here you will find the sound of seagulls, the smell
of fish, the sight of red roofs and jumbled alleyways winding up the steep
banks from the fishing quay, and at the very top of the cliff the majestic
ruins of the ancient abbey.
Evening at Whitby Marina Scenic drives can take in the coastal villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. Historic Scarborough, the Pickering to Grosmont Steam Train and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with its host of picturesque beauty spots and market towns are all nearby. A little further afield are Castle Howard (the magical setting for “Brideshead Revisted”), the tourist City of York with its ancient Minster and city walls steeped in history, and just that bit further still Bronte Land and Herriot Country |
